What are nouns?
Nouns
are one of the most common "blocks" which are used to refer to people, animals, places, things, ideas, or events.
They encompass most of the words of a language.
They can be a/an:
💥Person 👩🦰 – The name for a person: Max, Julie, Catherine, etc.
💥Animal 🐕 – The name for an animal: dog, cat, cow, etc.
💥Place 🏙️– The name for a place: London, Australia, Canada, etc.
💥Thing 👟 – The name for a thing: bat, bell, chair, door, house, etc.
💥Idea 💭 – The name for an idea: devotion, superstition, happiness, etc.
Some examples of nouns that we can see are the following:
- Alex is a wonderful player.
- Sydney Lions is the team he plays for.
- They had to ask for the VAR
- Honesty is hard to find nowadays
Remember:
If a word starts with a vowel (a, e, i, o, u) we put AN in front of it.
AN elephant. 🐘
If it starts with a consonant, we put A in front of it
A chair. 🪑
